🐾 Grow a Garden Pet Ability Calculator
Pick a pet, enter the weight and age it shows in-game, and see what its ability does now and at any age up to 500: cooldowns, chances, ranges and amounts. It covers all 397 pets in our list, including the four from the Halloween part 3 update. Three of them aren't in the game: the Golden Bee was scrapped, and the Jandel Monkey and Golden Raccoon are unreleased. The Radioactive Stegosaurus is in the game but exclusive to one developer.
Ability numbers are from the Grow a Garden wiki's ability data, checked . Every one of them matches the data two other Grow a Garden calculators use.
📐 How pet abilities scale
A pet's ability doesn't improve because of its age. It improves because of its weight. The wiki's pet guide says pet stats depend on weight, and ageing is what makes a pet heavier: every age adds one-eleventh of the weight it had at Age 1. So two pets of the same species and age can have different abilities if one hatched heavier, and a pet keeps improving all the way to age 500, until each number hits its cap.
Every number in an ability (a cooldown, a chance, a range, an amount) has a base value, a step per kg, and usually a cap:
Example: Mothman's cooldown has a base of 2,200 seconds, a step of −22 seconds per kg and a cap (minimum) of 1,100 seconds. A 22 kg Mothman waits 2,200 − 22 × 22 = 1,716 seconds, or 28:36, between flights. It reaches the 18:20 minimum at 50 kg.
The base, step and cap for every pet come from the wiki's ability data, which its pet pages use to show the base numbers. How those numbers turn into weight is the part the wiki doesn't spell out; the formula above, including the slowdown past 100 kg, is the one used by two other Grow a Garden calculators, and they agree on it.
✨ Pet mutations and toys
A pet mutation or a toy adds a share of the ability's base value: cooldowns get shorter by that share and everything else gets bigger. Numbers with no step per kg don't change. The wiki only describes these boosts in words ("big increase", "bigger increase"), so the percentages below are the ones in the data of two other Grow a Garden calculators, which agree on all of them.
| Pet mutation | Boost | Pet mutation | Boost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oxpecker | +1% | Exalted | +25% |
| Giraffe | +3% | Inferno | +25% |
| Silver | +5% | Royal Jelly | +25% |
| Forger | +7% | Alienated | +30% |
| Spectral | +8% | Everchanted | +30% |
| Golden | +10% | Hyper Hunger | +30% |
| Rainbow | +20% | UFO | +30% |
| Giant Golem | +20% | Venom | +30% |
| Haunted | +22% | Ember | +32% |
| Nightmare | +22% | Everhaunted | +33% |
| Blossoming | +23% | Transcendent | +35% |
Toys: Small Toy +10%, Medium Toy +20%, Large Toy +30%, added to the mutation's share. More about each mutation, including how to get it, is on the pet mutations page.
⚠️ What the calculator leaves out
- Grandmaster Sprinkler. The wiki says it works like 4 extra kg but doesn't lower cooldowns. The other calculators apply it to cooldowns too, so we leave it out until that's settled.
- Crocodile, Lion and Rhino mutations. The two calculators give different boosts for them, so they aren't in the list.
- Four pets in the wiki's ability data that aren't in the game: the scrapped Red Dragon and Glass Dog, and the unreleased Glass Cat and Wooly Mammoth.
- Rounding. The game rounds what it shows, so a value can be off by a hair.
The Pet KG calculator gives your pet's Age-1 weight, size class and kg at age 500.

Does age or weight change a pet's ability in Grow a Garden?
Weight. The Grow a Garden wiki says pet stats depend on weight, and ageing makes a pet heavier: every age adds one-eleventh of its Age-1 weight. So an older pet has a better ability because it's heavier, and two pets of the same species and age can have different abilities if one hatched heavier.
How is a pet's ability worked out?
Each number in an ability has a base value and a step per kg. The calculator takes the base, adds the step for every kg the pet weighs, and stops at that number's cap. Above 100 kg each extra kg counts for a quarter, and above 120 kg for a tenth.
Do Golden and Rainbow pets have better abilities?
Yes. The wiki only says Golden gives a big increase and Rainbow a bigger one. The data used by two other Grow a Garden calculators puts it at +10% and +20% of the ability's base value, added on top of the weight scaling. Cooldowns get shorter by that share and other numbers get bigger.
Why doesn't the calculator match my pet exactly?
The game rounds what it shows, a Grandmaster Sprinkler or other temporary boosts may be active, and the developers sometimes change ability numbers in updates. The calculator uses the wiki's ability data as of October 31, 2026.
